Paris Review update
I heard from TPR editor Philip Gourevitch via email, who told me that any transcription work by interns (or any outside work) is paid for by the person who hires the intern. So in this case, Larissa MacFarquhar paid for the transcription work by the fetching Perrin Drumm, which of course raises another question: Can’t The New Yorker have people transcribe things for their staff writers?!
