“Larissa McFarquhar did a piece about Barak Obama for the New Yorker, and I did the transcription for that interview.”
That’s a former Paris Review intern talking about some of the tasks she performed while at the magazine, which apparently included transcribing for editor-in-chief Philip Gourevitch’s wife. Maybe she was paid. But if she wasn’t… ugh. Gross.
