yrfriendliz asked: ugh i love how much you hate brunch. i really appreciate it. I love breakfast foods so I go to brunch often (plus it's a way for me and Dan to go out since we can't afford fancy dinners), but ANYWAY for 2012 we made pancakes and a scrambler at home for 8 people! super cheap, convenient, and communal. thought you would be proud. happy new year!!!
Nice! My opposition to brunch isn’t so much that you’re paying $12 for a plate of eggs or whatever. I get that part of going to a restaurant is paying more for food that you could theoretically make at home, but you’re also paying for all the other fun parts of going to a restaurant. So, great! I like going out to eat. My major brunch opposition I guess is the fetishization of it, and having (usually) to wait an hour on a Sunday morning/afternoon when I’m often hung over and/or starving. Also, so much brunch food just leaves me hungry like 2 hours later, or the food is so rich that it makes me sick. I don’t know why people who are into brunch find my opposition to it so offensive though – we have plenty of other opportunities to socialize and eat together if we so choose! Plus, I will always go to dim sum.
ANYWAY! Happy New Year to you too, and a scrambler sounds pretty delish, actually.
